The United Kingdom is prepared to move forward with utilizing the full worth of seized Russian assets to aid Ukraine's military campaign, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has announced.

In a joint statement, the officials of the UK, the French Republic, and Germany emphasized that this coordinated action would increase strain on Russian President Vladimir Putin and urge Moscow to engage in negotiations.

They added that the decision would be executed in close cooperation with the US.

UK sanctions have blocked more than £25bn of Russia's funds since Russia launched its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, up to this point, funds sent to the Ukrainian government using Russian assets had exclusively been sourced from earnings and returns earned on them.

Sir Keir assured President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their aim to advance efforts toward using the full value of the frozen Moscow's national funds to halt hostilities.

He added that further restrictions in the coming days and weeks would heighten the tension on Moscow.

This declaration follows European Union representatives convened in Copenhagen recently to debate using immobilized Russia's holdings for a €140bn credit to the Ukrainian nation.

Recently, US President Donald Trump called on Group of Seven partners to take or utilize seized Russia's assets, based on media sources.

The total of frozen Russian assets in the Europe is assessed to be approximately €211bn.

President Zelensky encourages Britain's Sir Keir Starmer to join the PURL initiative

The Russian government launched large-scale aerial attacks throughout Ukraine on that day, resulting in power cuts in significant regions of Ukraine's capital, the city, and multiple additional areas.

In a message on social media following the strike, Zelensky stated that the strategic strike focused on non-military and power facilities.

"Each restrictive measure diminishes Russia's war machine," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.

In the same period, Zelensky informed reporters he would urge Sir Keir to participate in the weapons procurement scheme, under which Nato countries acquire military equipment from the United States to provide to Ukraine.

While applauding the UK's consistent assistance for Kyiv, he remarked it should send a clear signal that it would engage in the program, as well as impose more measures on Russia.
