Ten sentenced of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has ruled against ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the partner of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced allegations of disseminating fabrications regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to publishing hurtful comments about the couple's age disparity of 24 years.
The court delivered suspended jail terms of a maximum of eight months to the defendants. The full ruling has yet to be released.
A longstanding unfounded claim alleging that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France comes as the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced similar conspiracy theories about the Brigitte Macron's gender.
Their legal filing alleges that Owens brushed aside any factual proof that refuted her assertions choosing instead to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has regularly repeated these claims on her show and social networks, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her belief that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her future husband when she was a teacher at his secondary school.
The two married in 2007, when the then-29-year-old Emmanuel Macron was 29 and she was 54.
