Spurs Boss Thomas Frank Labels Goalkeeper Booers 'Not True Genuine Fans'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Beat Spurs and Increase Tension on Frank

Spurs fans who jeered keeper Vicario were told afterwards "they can't be true Tottenham fans" by manager Frank.

Tottenham let in two scores in the first six minutes to fall 2-1 to their opponents, marking their 10th top-flight home loss of 2025.

However the main topic of discussion was Fulham's second score when Vicario lost the ball far outside his box.

The goalkeeper came out to handle a long ball and carried the ball towards the sideline.

However, rather than booting it into touch, the Italy international spun and tried to clear, but slipped as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

King passed the ball off to Wales midfielder Harry Wilson, who bent a shot into the goal from the sideline measured at 36.6 yards.

Moments later when the ball came to Vicario again, a number of Tottenham fans booed him.

The team were jeered off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and once more at full-time.

A particular of those jeering episodes really angered Frank.

"I heard a few of our supporters reportedly jeered the incident and jeered after, which, in my view is completely unjustifiable," the Dane commented about the fans' response to his shot-stopper.

"[They] cannot be real Tottenham supporters that act that way. Fair enough booing following the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are backing each other, we are with one another going forward."

Tete had handed Fulham a fourth-minute advantage before Wilson's strike – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Spurs in an better second-half showing.

Ex- top-flight goalkeeper Hart stated that the next score was "totally avoidable".

"I certainly appreciate the supporters' disappointment," the ex-keeper added. "I know the role the keeper is playing. He is a great team player, he's a real figure in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"The keeper was heavily involved in what ended up to be the winning score."

'It's In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Defended His Keeper Vicario Following the Match

Italy international Vicario is in his 3rd season with Spurs.

The 29-year-old said following the match that he had to accept the criticism.

"That score was a error of my own, I take accountability for that," he said.

"My aim was to kick the ball long and I just hit the ball in a poor manner. It was an more difficult challenge to overcome."

He said being booed "comes with the game".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he continued. "The team cannot be affected by the circumstances in the stands. Supporters have the right to do as they see fit.

"It's on us to stay more calm, to concentrate on ourselves. The team is lacking in composure and calmness to overturn results. Today is a bad defeat and it is hard to take."

'I Was Surprised Nobody Returned to the Line'

In spite of Vicario's error, it was far from an simple score for Harry Wilson to convert.

Actually it was the next most distant Premier League score of the season – after Adams' forty-three point three metre strike for the Cherries against Sunderland, which interestingly too came on the same day.

Wilson stated he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an empty net to aim for.

10 seconds elapsed between Vicario coming out of his box and the midfielder striking – which was 5 seconds after the clearance.

"I felt like the goalkeeper was out of the box for ages," he remarked.

"It amazed me none of the defenders went back to the goal line. When none of them covered the goal, my interest lit up a bit.

"Udogie slipped too, which allowed me a bit of extra time. After that it was solely about attempting to achieve the right contact and place it towards goal. I felt a positive sense, as soon as it came off my boot, that it was on the right line."

'During in a Poor Run, Everything Seems to Go Against You'

Jeering While We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unjustifiable - the Manager

While the keeper's error dominated coverage, this was an all-round bad day for Spurs to extend their home struggles.

This was their tenth home defeat of the year in the Premier League, a shared team record along with 1994 and two thousand and three.

The side still have home fixtures against the manager's old side Brentford and champions the Reds to play before the end of the year.

Only one of those wins have occurred after Frank took over from Ange Postecoglou in the summer.

"When you're behind 2-0 after six minutes, there is a mountain to overcome," said Frank.

"During in a bad spell, everything seems to work against you as well – the first was a redirected attempt, the next is a mistake from Vic.

"This result leaves us in a place where we have lost an additional game. Each fixture has a single narrative, this game we lost in the early stages.

"We just need to continue striving. The second half was significantly improved and hopefully something we can use to develop."

Tottenham have lost 4 consecutive at home London derbies for the first time in the top division.

Furthermore they are recording 9.5 shots and 3.2 shots on target per game in the division – their poorest averages on record in a single season (since at least the 2003-04 season).

Former Fulham midfield player Murphy stated that the manager has to endure the criticism.

"He must take the criticism," the pundit said. "He's accepted a prestigious job at a huge team with massive expectation. There is pressure and responsibility that comes with that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
