Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Adds to the English team's Fitness Worries.
'Major setback' for the touring side as Atkinson goes off with a hamstring injury.
Gus Atkinson added to the injury concerns plaguing England upon exiting the playing area during Saturday's play of the Boxing Day Test against Australia.
The pace bowler experienced discomfort in his left leg after the final ball in his spell during the morning session.
The England team stated the 27-year-old reported "discomfort" and required time off the field to undergo evaluation "during the day".
The final Test of the tour at the SCG begins this coming Sunday.
The English side has already lost fast bowlers one seamer due to knee trouble and another paceman to a side strain during this series.
A replacement bowler was called up to provide backup.
Atkinson struggled early in the series, taking just three wickets.
He was left out of the third Test, then recalled for the Melbourne Test to fill the void.
The county bowler showed better form in Melbourne, bagging two scalps during the host's first knock, then making 28 while batting among just a trio of England players to reach double figures.
Following a brief spell in Australia's second innings, he returned for the second day's play and removed Scott Boland taken by the wicketkeeper.
However, at the end of the fifth over, he sent down a change of pace to the batsman and suddenly grabbed for his hamstring.
Gus Atkinson returned to the side for the Melbourne match following his omission of the third.
