Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a ex- physician stands accused of committing assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five charges include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
