According to data provided by Israel, at least 98 detainees from Palestine have perished while detained starting from October 2023. High-Profile Cases

Some deaths in custody have been high profile, such as a 50-year-old medical chief who lost his life in detention after a third of a year in custody.

An inmate detained alongside the individual stated that he was brought to the exercise area by correctional officers shortly before his demise, clearly wounded and naked from the lower body. His remains has not been repatriated to Gaza.

Other prisoners who lost their lives in confinement by Israeli authorities remain anonymous. For 21 instances, primarily individuals from Gaza, investigators were not able to connect the minimal data given by authorities to a fatality documented by advocacy bodies, either through accounts from released detainees or accounts in the media.

The detainees’ families may not know about their loved ones’ deaths as well, as Israel has made it difficult to locate detainees it is confining.
